Highlights from the 33rd Annual NC & SC Chapters ACC Joint Conference
Over 650 cardiovascular professionals, spouses and exhibitor representatives from across North Carolina, South Carolina and neighboring states gathered September 18-20 at 33rd Annual Joint Conference of the SC & NC Chapters of the American College of Cardiology at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
The three-day event featured cutting-edge clinical education, networking opportunities, career development programming, and collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, fellows in training, cardiovascular team members, industry partners, and healthcare leaders
The conference opened Friday with specialized educational sessions for Cardiovascular Team (CVT) members, Women in Cardiology (WIC), and Fellows in Training (FIT). CVT & WIC seminar topics addressed emerging issues in cardiovascular medicine, Lp(a), Hypertension Guidelines, TAVR and more.
The FIT Seminar focused on professional development and career preparation, offering guidance on early-career success, financial planning, practice selection, and malpractice risk management. The program provided valuable mentorship opportunities for cardiology fellows preparing to transition into practice.
Attendees gathered Friday evening for the Welcome Reception with Exhibitors, providing an opportunity to connect with colleagues and engage with industry partners.
Highlights from Saturday's sessions included updates from the national ACC, resistant hypertension and advances in structural and heart failure therapies.
Sunday's program continued with sessions focused on prevention and innovation, featuring updates on New Cholesterol Guidelines, Cardiac Amyloid, Pulmonary Hypertension, Tricuspid Intervention and more.
The conference concluded with the always-anticipated FIT Jeopardy competition, which brought an engaging and interactive close to the educational program with the team from UNC finishing in first place.
