The North Carolina Chapter of the ACC is a 501-C (6) not-for-profit corporation and was incorporated on December 2, 1991. It currently has approximately 650 dues paying members.

The North Carolina Chapter is a State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology
The American College of Cardiology envisions a world where innovation and knowledge optimize cardiovascular care and outcomes. As the professional home for the entire cardiovascular care team, the mission of the College and its more than 54,000 members is to transform cardiovascular care and to improve heart health. The ACC bestows credentials upon cardiovascular professionals who meet stringent qualifications and leads in the formation of health policy, standards and guidelines. The College also provides professional medical education, disseminates cardiovascular research through its world-renowned JACC Journals, operates national registries to measure and improve care, and offers cardiovascular accreditation to hospitals and institutions. NC Chapter Partners with NC Free Clinics
The NC ACC has an ongoing partnership with the North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NCAFCC; ncafcc.org). The NCAFCC includes 68 clinics from around the state. In 2015, these clinics provided care for 78,486 patients (44% Caucasian, 31% African American and 20% Hispanic) with a total number of patient visits of 171,614.
The partnership between NC ACC and NCAFCC enables selected free clinics chosen by the NCAFCC to provide clopidogrel and statin medications free of charge to their neediest patients. The NC ACC provided funding from Aug 1 2016 – July 31, 2017 and again from Aug 1 2017 – July 31, 2018. In the first year of the partnership, lipid lowering therapy and clopidogrel was provided for one year to 7 free clinics in North Carolina chosen by the NCAFCC. During the year, these 7 clinics were able to provide 70 patients with clopidogrel (9854 tablets) and 1296 patients with statin medications (178384 tablets).
Funding for Aug 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018 has been distributed to the following seven clinics. These clinics were chosen to represent a diversity of geographic location and size, all have an electronic pharmacy records and all dispense medications on site.
