Important Upcoming RUC survey

Colleagues,

In the coming weeks, you may receive a RUC survey requesting your input on the relative value of either newly created or existing CPT codes. RUC surveys play an important role in setting Medicare rates. These are sent to a subset of physicians in the subspecialty to which the codes are relevant (eg. interventionalists for PCI).

We have 2 asks:

1. Pay attention and open any email you get from noreply@qemailserver.com. It seems like a spam address but is not.

2. If you do get this survey, refer to the information below provided by the AMA and ACC on completing it.

Best,

William E. Downey, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Governor Elect, North Carolina Chapter ACC

Vice-Chair, Quality and Care Transformation

Atrium Cardiovascular Enterprise

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute

James P. Zidar, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Governor, North Carolina Chapter ACC

Clinical Professor of Medicine, UNC Health Systems

UNC Health Systems Physician-in-Chief, Heart & Vascular

Corporate Chief of Cardiology, Rex Healthcare

In the coming weeks, you may receive a RUC survey requesting your input on the relative value of either newly created or existing CPT codes. RUC surveys play an important role in setting Medicare rates, and in many cases these values also influence commercial insurance reimbursement.

The codes being surveyed this cycle include newly created intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) along with the entire PCI family of codes, a newly created fractional flow reserve CT (FFRCT) code, phrenic nerve stimulator implantation and monitoring services, and revised venography codes for congenital catheterizations.

Surveys are completed using Qualtrics and will arrive from noreply@qemailserver.com. You can access resources released by the American Medical Association (AMA) to better prepare for these surveys. Watch this video on completing the RUC surveys. For more information on the overall RUC process, access this video and review this slide deck.
